Privacy policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how UnityDonate collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the platform.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, and payment or settlement details, when you create an account, donate, or start a fundraiser. We also collect information automatically, such as device and usage data, to help operate and improve the platform.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to process donations and withdrawals, verify fundraisers, communicate with you about your account or a fundraiser, prevent fraud, and improve UnityDonate. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Sharing of information

We share information with payment processors and settlement partners (such as M-Pesa or banking partners) to complete donations and payouts. We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of UnityDonate, our users, or the public.

4. Public fundraiser information

Fundraiser titles, stories, cover photos, categories, locations, and progress toward the goal are shown publicly. Donor names and amounts may be shown publicly unless you choose to donate anonymously, where that option is available.

5. Data retention

We retain account, donation, and fundraiser information for as long as needed to provide the platform, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure storage of payment and settlement details. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices

You can update your account information at any time from your profile settings. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable law and our legitimate business needs (such as fraud prevention and record-keeping).

8. Children's privacy

UnityDonate is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform, and continued use of UnityDonate after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact
